Federal Fund for Industry and Climate Action

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) is using the Federal Fund for Industry and Climate Action (Bundesförderung Industrie und Klimaschutz, BIK) to support climate-friendly projects in German industry. Decarbonisation is closely associated with the storage and usage of CO2. Accordingly, these topics are therefore organised in two funding modules with a shared funding directive.

Module 1: Decarbonisation of industry

Module 2: Application and implementation of CCU and CCS

Funding programme ‘Decarbonisation of Industry’

With the ‘Decarbonisation of Industry’ funding programme, the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) supported projects in energy-intensive industry from 2021 until the end of 2023 that aimed to reduce process-related greenhouse gas emissions as far as possible and permanently. The corresponding funding guideline expired on 31.12.2023. The funding programme will be replaced by funding module 1 within the planned Federal Fund for Industry and Climate Action.
